FISH!!

Sarah and Rachel decided that they wanted to buy a fish tank with their birthday money (thanks Mom and Dad!). They've been bugging me the past several Saturdays--when we go to Meijers and they see the fish. So, today, I finally gave in and said Yes! Of course, Tom got the honor of setting it up when we got home. We have 4 goldfish right now, but we'll see how long they last. We may try a different type of fish later--if these don't survive :) Here's a picture of the tank.

Ferocious!!

The older boys had a scavenger hunt this year instead of an egg hunt. Some of them decided they were too old to hunt for Easter eggs (I won't name any names!!). They had a good time walking around the neighborhood looking for clues. They ended up tieing!!

Pictures from March

Just some random pictures from March. I'm trying to catch up. I'm a bit behind in the blog.

Mom--here are the girls in the skirts you made
and the matching shirts!

I found Haven sitting in her crib one morning.
She's crying because I went to get the camera :)
She calmed down pretty quickly...but she still wanted out!

I can't believe my baby wants to walk.
Here she is trying to learn.

Dissection Time in Homeschool

Nathan and his friend Joshua Muzzi are taking Biology this year. His mom and I decided that we would attempt to dissect some animals together. We ordered a set of 9 animals and got together several Tuesday mornings to cut the poor things apart. I'm not sure how much we actually learned, but the boys had fun cutting!! We watched a video on youtube before dissecting so we had some clue what we were doing. It was interesting, gross, and a lot of fun. It's amazing at the detail in the animals--it's clear that God made each of these animals. Not random chance. Not evolution. How could a big bang put the crayfish's bladder in his head?? He swims backwards--I'll let you figure out why he wouldn't want it in the normal position!! Anyway, here a couple of pictures from our first class. I didn't take my camera for the other classes, so this is all I have. We finished up this past Tuesday with a fetal pig. That was really interesting--the organs were big enough to see and appreciate.

First of all...the class!! 15 students in 2 families :)
Sorry, girls, you're outnumbered.
I'm assuming that you can tell the Weadocks from the Muzzis.
They have 6 boys, 1 girl--all just about the same ages
as ours.

Our first class was the dissection of a frog.
Daniel helped cut a little bit!
Nathan found a beetle in the stomach--actually,
there were 2!

Pretty cool, I must say. Tom doesn't even like to hear the word 'dissection' so we don't talk about it too much at home--unless we're trying to bug him :) It was a lot of fun. The other kids had fun playing together while Nathan, Joshua, and Rebekah did the dissecting. They would occasionally pop in and see what was happening. Just wait until next year when Daniel takes Biology!!
